Seaboard Bindery, bought by Harold Shear in 1978, is the longest surviving single-owner general trade bindery in the Boston area. Always in forefront of new binding technology, Seaboard's philosophy has always been to 'go above and beyond' to satisfy our customers. Ownership is involved at all levels, but most particularly in daily customer activities and interaction, where personal attention is never in short order. Seaboard Bindery contracts with printers of all sizes, and boasts inline equipment capable of handling runs large and small. Efficient in virtually everything we do, Seaboard Bindery understands that all customers, large or small, expect the same high-quality results on every project.

Frank Shear wears many hats for Seaboard Bindery, including managing production, estimating, sales and business administration. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a degree in geography, Frank worked for Street map Publishers, designing, updating and selling street maps. In 1983, Frank joined his father at Seaboard, where he quickly became adept at handling any customer service issue. An avid reader, Frank can regularly be found in local bookstores, probably seeking titles on his other passions: flying, skydiving and Japanese cooking.

Jim Shear also attended the University of Massachusetts, earning a degree in Business before moving on to graduate study at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Jim began working in the printing industry in 1978 as a perfect binder operator and has held many positions, including ten years with a sheet fed and web printer where he had his hands in estimating, purchasing, accounting, equipment installation and evaluation. Jim shares his brother's interest in flying, but prefers flight simulators. He also stays on the ground to indulge in his other favorite recreations: bike riding and nature walks. He joined Seaboard permanently in 1998.

Marty Durant began his career in bookbinding in 1964 as a machine operator. He joined Seaboard in 1996 after serving Pearl Bookbinding Company for 24 years as bindery and finishing manager, purchasing agent and general equipment and maintenance guru. While not serving Seaboard clients, Marty can be found outdoors, hunting, fishing or boating at his favorite vacation spot in Vermont.

Harold Shear, a decorated WWII veteran, bought Seaboard Bindery in 1978 after 20 years in the men's clothing business. For more than 25 years, he has presided over the longest surviving single-owner general trade bindery in the Boston area.
